ONE MAN BELIEVES HE CAN GAIN CONTROL OF THE MOST POWERFUL NAVAL FORCE IN THE WORLD — AND HIS ENEMY WILL NEVER KNOW!

While the two superpowers are apparently relaxing under the spirit of glasnost, Nicholas Koniev, a Soviet strategic and technical genius and a Spetznaz-trained warrior, is leading a near-suicidal mission into the American submarine base of Bangor, Washington — home of the vital Trident missile subs. He appears to be using mini-subs to seed the harbor with sonar-activated mines that will deny the Tridents access to the Pacific, but appearances are deceiving. His actual mission is a one-man quest to neutralize the Trident system forever.

Bernie Ryng, a seasoned Navy SEAL with a string of legendary exploits to his credit, is heading a small, elite team of SEALS and trained dolphins to reinforce the Tridents' security. A beautiful Englishwoman on a lonely island is the only human being who may be able to help Koniev escape. As Ryng closes in, Koniev alone knows that there are two prizes he's after…

A book with more action would be hard to find. There's sub-on-sub warfare, Navy Seals, trained Dolphins, Spetsnaz infiltrations led by a merciless psychotic killer, Koniev, and a disoriented female traitor. Then there's surface vessel chases and combat and their engagement with helos. This book offered such unceasing suspense throughout that it was hard to put down at any point in the story. I needn't say more; the Amazon review here does an excellent job summarizing the plot.

There are some minor editing glitches, but none are confusing. Two possible gaffes in the storyline were: (1) a code system for an emergency message to abort a Trident launch would have been very highly classified and wouldn't have been kept in an office safe and, even if it were, the system would have been changed the moment it was discovered that Koniev had been in the same room; and (2) Koniev should have been able to arrange covert assistance from his consulate at Vancouver while he was on the run. But both of these can be overlooked without without detracting a whit from this genuinely thrilling story.

Deep Sting edition by Charles D Taylor Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

It is Ok, not very exciting untill the chase.
I'm a lousy reviewer but for anyone who likes techno-military novels this is a must read.
I rated the book very good, not quite what I would rate as excellent, but close.
low price, prompt shipment, and good quality
The thrills kept coming. Never knew till the end how it was going to end. Very well done.
This was a really good book. I really enjoyed the ending. The idea using Navy Seals in this book made it more interesting for me as a reader of military battles. Look forward to reading more of your books.
The plot in this book never seems to rise to its potential until the very end. The basic premises are good, and offer a wealth of avenues to pursue. However, it never seems to get there, and lacks the urgency of purpose throughout. The good guys come off as somewhat inept as they always seem to be a day late and a dollar short. The situations that make the bad guys look so good appear to be a bit contrived, which adds to the non-compelling nature of the plot. Along with needing more zip to the story, typos are numerous enough to be irritating. Also, some maps of the action areas would definitely help.
